“You had me at Sriracha“, where did this phrase come from? Two years ago my cousin shared a recipe that had Sriracha as a main ingredient, I think Bacon was the other one but the one that stuck out to me and the one I remembered was Sriracha. At the time I was living just outside of Boston in Salem MA and I was pretty homesick. I remember her sharing a recipe via a blog and my comment to her was “You had me at Sriracha” and that thought that one little idea has stayed with me and suddenly I knew how I wanted to express it.
Three years ago my pre Sriracha awakening I was reading another food blog and one of the ingredients it called for Sriracha and I was like “What?”. The author was very informative and quickly educated me on it. I at the time was living on a small island with very few food options and doubted very much that I would be able to find it… I did not understand the cult like following it had and sure enough it sat high on the shelf next to some other Asian ingredients. I used it sparingly that first day but now I use it liberally and sometimes excessively.
Sriracha Deviled eggs!
Adapted From Mark Bittman’s How to Cook Everything
makes 8
- 4 Hard Boiled Eggs
- pinch of salt
- 2 Tbsp Mayoinnaise
- 1/2 tsp Dijon Mustard
- 1 Tbsp Sriracha (more or less to taste)*
- garnish with Chopped Cilantro
Cleanly as you can cut the eggs in half and remove the yolk. Combine yolks, salt, mayonnaise, mustard & sriracha in a bowl mash together into smooth filling. For a smoother consistency I use my standmixer. Spoon or for a slick fancy appearance pipe filling into the center of the hardboiled eggs and garnish with chopped cilantro.
When increased this recipe would make a great appetizer for a brunch or party!
*I love Sriracha Sauce, I love spicy foods, I consider hot foods mild until I am sweating, tearing and my nose running… and then it is moderate, if I can’t eat then it is hot.

This was delicious. We loved it. We made a second batch and added plumped orange craisins and they really made the Sriracha pop. Thanks for sharing this yummy recipe.
That sounds good, something sweet with the spicy! Yum.
